Sports Environment Alliance announces the departure of CEO Dr Sheila Nguyen

The Board of Sports Environment Alliance announces the resignation of its CEO and co-Founder Dr Sheila Nguyen with disappointment and sadness as she chooses a new focus.

“It is with a smile on my face that I reflect on the good work we have done. I am excited to remain on the #SEABoard and continue to focus on sharing my insider knowledge for the benefit of the Board and the organisation as a whole,” Dr Nguyen said.

Dedicating 15 years of her life to SEA, from the initial concept and idea to the inception and to today where SEA is firmly established with 60 #SEAMembers and friends and allies across the country and the globe, Dr Nguyen’s vision, determination, and leadership have helped to bring the inextricable connection between sport and climate to the surface and attention of the sports industry.

SEA Chair, Margot Foster AM OLY, expressed her thanks on behalf of the Board to Dr Nguyen for her significant and innovative contributions to the leadership of the sport and planet movement designed, and essential, to protect the places where we play, noting that Dr Nguyen remains a director.

SEA will be managed by interim CEO Jack Peterson, SEA’s Governance, Compliance, and Legal Manager. The search for a permanent CEO to lead SEA’s next phase has begun.

A statement by Dr Nguyen is here

Dr Nguyen’s last day is 12 April 2022.
